From Flight Angel to Good Boy Coffee Co.: Helping Rescue Dogs, One Cup at a Time

Good Boy Coffee Co.: Helping Rescue Dogs, One Cup at a Time

There’s nothing like that first sip of coffee in the morning.
For me, it’s always been a small ritual of comfort and grounding before the day gets busy with dogs, clients, and all the moving parts of life.

But recently, that cup of coffee took on a much bigger meaning.

Good Boy Coffee Co. was born from a simple idea:
What if your daily cup could help save dogs’ lives?

We’re an ecommerce shop offering fresh roasted coffee (in whole bean, ground, and K-Cups), loose leaf teas, and fun merch. But at the heart of it all is our mission: 50% of all profits are donated to dog rescues.

This isn’t just a business. It’s a way to support the dogs and rescues that have been at the center of my life and work for over a decade. And it all really clicked into place because of one very special dog: Fawn.

The Flight Angel That Started It All

The idea for Good Boy Coffee Co. didn’t start in a boardroom or a business plan.
It started on a trip to Mexico and a Facebook post looking for a “Flight Angel.”

If you’ve never heard the term before, a Flight Angel is someone who volunteers to bring a rescue animal back to their home country on their booked flight. The rescue handles the logistics and paperwork; the Flight Angel is simply the human escort, making sure the animal gets safely from Point A to Point B.

While I was in Mexico, I came across a post asking for a Flight Angel to help a dog named Fawn get to her new home in the United States.

Fawn’s story was already complicated by the time I saw it. She was a street dog in Mexico, found by an American woman who fell in love with her. When that woman had to return to the U.S., she couldn’t bring Fawn back right away. Fawn had several medical issues, including distemper and missing vaccines, so she wasn’t cleared to fly. Leaving her behind wasn’t a choice anyone wanted to make—but it was the only safe option at the time.

That’s when Gerrie’s Animal Rescue stepped in. They took Fawn in, treated her medical issues, and cared for her until she was healthy enough and fully cleared to travel. They essentially became her bridge between street dog and beloved family member.

And then came the post: Fawn was finally ready to fly. They just needed a Flight Angel whose travel matched her route.

As it turned out, my flight did.

I reached out to the rescue and heard back from them almost immediately. From that moment, everything started to fall into place.

Meeting Fawn and the People Who Loved Her

While I was in Mexico, I arranged to meet with Diane, the founder of Gerrie’s Animal Rescue. We connected in person, and it was one of those meetings where everyone just felt aligned. You could see—and feel—how much they cared about these animals. The way they talked about Fawn, and all the other dogs in their care, was full of love and responsibility.

The rescue handled everything on their end:
They took care of the arrangements to add Fawn to my flight, made sure all her paperwork was in order, and walked me through what the process would look like from check-in to customs.

They also connected me with Fawn’s adoptive mom in the U.S.—a woman who was willing to drive from South Carolina to Florida just to meet us at the airport and bring Fawn home. That alone says so much about the kind of people involved in rescue work: the ones who go the extra miles (literally) to give a dog a safe, loving home.

On the day of my flight, I arrived at the airport three hours early to make sure we had plenty of time for check-in. The rescue met me there with Fawn in her crate. She was nervous, of course—airports are overwhelming even for humans—but there was this quiet bravery about her too.

We checked her in together, handled the airline formalities, and before I knew it, we were on our way.

Bringing Fawn Home

The journey itself felt both ordinary and extraordinary at the same time. On the surface, I was just a passenger with an extra responsibility. But in reality, I was accompanying a dog on one of the most important days of her life.

When we landed in the U.S., I went through a special customs process with Fawn’s paperwork. There’s something powerful about standing there with a crate beside you, knowing that the dog inside has already beaten the odds more than once.

Once we cleared customs, I was able to collect Fawn and head out to meet her new mom.

Her adoptive mother had driven all the way down from South Carolina to Florida to be there. When she saw Fawn, it was one of those moments where everything else just goes quiet for a second. You could see the relief, joy, and gratitude all over her face.

I handed Fawn over, and just like that, the journey that started with a plea for a Flight Angel ended with a dog finally on her way home.

It was incredibly rewarding for me. And it lit a spark that I couldn’t ignore.

Why This Mission Feels So Right

I’ve worked with dogs professionally for over 10 years. Until recently, I owned a brick-and-mortar dog boarding facility. Like many small business owners, I eventually made the decision to close that chapter and create something more sustainable and aligned with the life I want now.

That “something” became Harmony Pet Nanny, a smaller, more intimate pet care business with less overhead and more flexibility. Throughout all these changes, one thing has always been constant: I partner with rescues whenever I can.

Supporting rescues isn’t a marketing angle for me. It’s just part of who I am and how I choose to work with animals. Helping dogs who’ve had a rough start—whether through fostering, donations, volunteering, or just spreading the word—has always been what lights me up.

So when I flew with Fawn, all of that history and passion kind of converged into one big realization:

I wanted to build something that could reliably support rescue work.
Not just when I had a little extra time or money, but as a core part of how I earn my living.

That’s where Good Boy Coffee Co. comes in.

What Good Boy Coffee Co. Is All About

Good Boy Coffee Co. is an online shop where dog lovers, coffee people, and rescue supporters all meet in the middle.

Here’s what we offer:

  • Fresh roasted coffee – Available in whole beans, ground coffee, and convenient K-Cups, so there’s an option for however you like to brew.
  • Loose leaf teas – For the tea drinkers and the “I’ve already had three coffees today” crowd.
  • Merch – Think dog- and coffee-themed goodies that let you wear your heart (and your mission) on your sleeve… or your mug, or your tote bag.

But the product line is only half the story.

The other half is this:
50% of all profits are donated to dog rescue.

That’s built into the DNA of the business. This isn’t a “maybe we’ll donate if we can” situation. Supporting rescues is the whole reason Good Boy Coffee Co. exists.

Right now, I’m still exploring all the ways we’ll give back—whether that’s sponsoring individual dogs, helping with medical bills, funding transport, or supporting programs that make more Flight Angel journeys possible. Rescues like Gerrie’s Animal Rescue are perfect examples of the kind of organizations we’re proud to stand behind.

How Your Cup Makes a Difference

So what does it really mean when you choose Good Boy Coffee Co. over another brand?

It means your morning cup can help:

  • Provide medical care – Vaccines, spay/neuter surgeries, treatments for illnesses like distemper, and ongoing care for dogs who need more time to heal.
  • Cover daily essentials – Food, safe housing, and supplies for dogs waiting for their forever homes.
  • Support transportation – From short drives to long-distance journeys and international flights, getting dogs where they need to go safely costs money.
  • Lift up small rescues – Many rescues operate on shoestring budgets with huge hearts. Extra funding can be the difference between saying “yes” or “no” to a dog in need.

You might just feel like you’re buying coffee, tea, or a cute mug. But on the other side of that purchase is a rescue trying to say “yes” to the next dog that needs them.

Join the Good Boy Coffee Co. Pack

Good Boy Coffee Co. is still new, and in many ways, the story is just beginning. I don’t have every detail figured out yet—and I’m okay with that. What I do know is that this business will always be rooted in helping rescues and changing as many dogs’ lives as possible.

If you’re a:

  • Dog lover
  • Coffee or tea person
  • Rescue supporter
  • Or all of the above

…then you’re exactly who I had in mind when I created this brand.

Here’s how you can get involved:

  • Shop our coffee, teas, and merch – Turn your daily routines into small acts of rescue.
  • Join our email list – Stay in the loop about new products, featured rescues, and the dogs you’re helping.
  • Follow along on social – We’ll share stories, updates, and behind-the-scenes looks at the impact we’re making together.

Every bag of beans, every box of K-Cups, every mug or tee you buy helps fund the kind of rescue work that brought Fawn home.

Your coffee can do more than wake you up.
It can help write a better ending for a dog who’s waiting for their chance at a new life.

Thank you for being here, for reading Fawn’s story, and for caring about rescue dogs as much as I do. Here’s to good coffee, good dogs, and all the good we can do together.

And a very special thank you to Gerrie’s Animal Rescue for the incredible work they do and for trusting me to be part of Fawn’s journey home.
